Sally Seltmann, previously under the name New Buffalo, has been making her own music since 2001, albeit, rather quietly. She has a long history of supporting roles that go back to the early 90’s playing with the likes of Ben Lee and then Broken Social Scene in recent years. Her first full-length album, The Last Beautiful Day, came out in 2004 on Arts & Crafts and was met with critical acclaim. 2007 brought another well received album, Somewhere, Anywhere, and seemed to fly under the radar of the music blogs, but was just as lush as her first release.
It’s hard to describe Setlmann’s music without using adjectives like lucious, luxurious, delicate, or bittersweet. She’s doing incredibly captivating things with music that’s like chocolate cake for your ears. Her third album, Harmony to my Heartbeat, is scheduled for this April and I can already anticipate it being one of the best of this year.
